Hi asepriters! A couple of weeks ago we made some changes in our website. We were waiting for an announcement while doing some final adjustments.

First of all, you can now sign in with your email (the one you’ve used in your itch.io, Humble Bundle, Gumroad purchase) and download Aseprite files directly from aseprite.org. Yes, even if you have purchased Aseprite from Steam (!):

Secondly, we were working in the integration with a new payment processor (Paddle) with local pricing (and local payment methods): https://www.aseprite.org/buy/

This was a work-in-progress to be released in the near future, but unfortunately we had to publish it in a bit of a hurry. Due an itch.io downtime, we made this payment processor change, and adjusted all local pricing with the suggested conversion rates matching Steam and our website.

What went wrong? Steam has a policy that in case of a price adjustment, you cannot offer a discount between the next 30 days, so there couldn’t have been a worse time to make this change than just days before a Summer Sale. We didn’t plan this, but it just happened.

We apologize for this failed Steam Summer Sale, and we hope to offer a special discount on Steam for those who were waiting this occasion.
